Creating a sustainable world through the Grounded Farmer Initiative.
Guided by our values, we’re on a mission to create a healthy and sustainable food system to support our farmers, our communities and our planet. Agriculture faces huge environmental and social challenges. Supporting regenerative eco-systems, soils and water creates landscapes where industrial agriculture and rural commerce co-exist with nature to re-imagine global agriculture for the better.
OUR PLANET
Environmental footprint
We want to leave the world a better place than we found it. Food and food packaging is always a constant push between food safety and quality. We strive to utilise recyclable products where possible and food packaging that can be recycled at store level. With new developments in sustainable food packaging, we’ve set ourselves an ambitious purpose to make 85% of our packaging reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025.
Having a strong focus on plant-based products & ingredients provides a positive benefit for the environment and the community we live in. Caring for our environment is our commitment to offer a healthier, better world for future generations. All our product development is created with this in mind. Because Better Begins Here.
OUR FARMERS
Ethical sourcing
Knowing ingredients are grown in an environmentally sensitive way is important to us, that’s why we source major raw materials from partners with strong environmental and sustainability practices. Understanding our environmental footprint helps improve the livelihoods of farmers and communities through initiatives that enhance productivity and return.
Working closely with smallholder farmers, our supply chain supports farmers to run sustainability programs helping to improve yields & quality and diversifying crops, to increase income and help local communities thrive.
OUR COMMUNITIES
Economic opportunity
A number of supply chains operate where social and environmental challenges still exist. Poverty is often at the forefront of these issues and we want to help make a difference by supporting farmers who are committed to providing safe & decent work conditions. Focus on engaging in a diversity of employees, eliminating child labour and improving working conditions is a common denominator across our supply chain.
Locally, we want to assist in making a positive difference here in our communities. In Australia poverty is growing, with an estimated 13% of the population living below the accepted poverty threshold. Exploring non-profit causes and organisations, we want to invest in local partnerships to drive awareness of various programs supporting poverty whilst providing food donations to various food banks and volunteering across charitable events.
Be the change for a healthy future
Our team are always exploring opportunities to partner with not for profit, research, education, and advocacy organisations both local and national. Check back to see how we are making a change in your community, and how you can be a part of the change.
